Rudy Project sunglasses triumphed at the Grande Boucle - apart from being the official sunglasses of the 2006 edition, they did not go unnoticed on the faces of the protagonists of the Tour.
Always involved and to the forefront in the sponsorship of over 10,000 athletes of all nationalities, in the most wide-ranging activities and at all competition levels, Rudy Project wanted to show its support for a numerous group of racers at the Tour de France.
During the 93rd edition of the Grande Boucle, Rudy Project got on its bike with 26 racers, including the most important sprinters such as Bennati, Eisel, Zabel and the three times world champion Oscar Freire (Rabobank), who beat his rivals during the final sprint in the 5th stage - 225 km between Beauvais and Caen, and in the 9th stage - 169.5 km between Bordeaux and Dax.
And that’s not all. Great results were also assured by the Russian Menchov (Rabobank) who won the 11th stage, arriving at the finish line of the Val d’Aran and the champion Mickael Rasmussen (Rabobank) who claimed victory in the 16th stage of the Tour de France and who was the protagonist of a 176km sprint.
Former “Giro d’Italia” winner in 2004, Damiano Cunego, the 24 year old from Verona who races with Lampre Fondital, won the white jersey for the best young competitor – this was his first time participating in the tour. Cunego has been collaborating for some time with Rudy Project on the development of new products that are studied especially for cycling.
The Danish participant Mickael Rasmussen (Rabobank) also confirmed his ability as a climber, and after last year’s success, he once again conquered the polka-dot jersey for best climber.
All of these great champions were able to count on technical Rudy Project sunglasses, with an ergonomic and all-embracing design, excellent companions for competitions of the highest level. For some, such as Bennati and Ballan, sunglasses with corrective lenses were used. All participants were guaranteed ultra lightweight materials, ImpactX photochromatic polarised lenses, made of NXT, ideal for excellent light management in all atmospheric conditions. The super lightweight Rudy Project aerodynamic helmets did not of course go unnoticed; they have been studied in collaboration with the best teams in the world and guarantee the utmost in safety as well as total comfort.
The Tour de France was also an occasion to present a worldwide preview of the new model “Syluro” by Rudy Project, ideal for the most extreme sports; it will be available on the market from the end of 2006.
